Dumbbells and Drama

All those Instagram updates from Cambodia have made one thing clear- I am in love with the country, and I am going to make it a point to share this wonderful place with you too. The next few updates on the blog would be related to travel in Cambodia, and seeing how so many of you reached out with questions about this trip, I am so happy to be writing all of this for you.

Without further ado, here’s the first in the series- Traveling in Cambodia with Maads Asia

Maads Asia offers properties all around Cambodia across memorable destinations, and helps plan itineraries to give you the best travel memories in this country. You can check out their website to know more about the different properties and locations.  Each individual hotel has a distinct personality, which we found out on our trip across Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Details are as follows.

Templation at Siem Reap

We didn’t know what to expect when we arrived by tuktuk to the flagship property, but we certainly were not prepared for the sight that greeted us as we sat down with our welcome drinks and waited to be shown to our rooms. Leaving you with a few pictures of this fabulous property –

The spa massage soon after checking in had us relaxed and ready for the adventure that lay ahead. One of the best massages ever! (could do with one right now lol) When in Cambodia, a meal of Seafood Amok is a must have.

Services at Templation

  • A complimentary massage on checking in!
  • They will organize tuktuks for your transport whenever you need them. So no need to worry about being stranded at any point 🙂
  • The tuktuk drivers can be informed in advance of late night or early morning travels, they will ensure they’re on time to receive you. Brownie points for brilliant hospitality 🙂
  • Wondering what to do in Siem Reap? The staff at the Reception will help you plan your itinerary!
  • Wondering which temples to visit? Leave it to the staff once again- they’ll plan an itinerary for you complete with the tuktuk driver and tour details.
  • A pool inside your villa, what more could you ask for?
  • A floating breakfast in your own private pool! What a lovely way to start your day 🙂

Pavilion at Phnom Penh

It was like walking into a green wonderland, with palms making up most of the décor of the hotel. As we waited to be checked in, we enjoyed the beautiful view of a sparkling blue swimming pool in the middle of all this greenery, and once again I am going to leave you with images because words do not do justice to the calm beauty of this place.

Why Pavilion

  • Right next to Royal Palace
  • Walking distance from most of the places in the city (Riverside, Night market, Central Market)
  • They will help book tuktuks for your travel needs
  • Complimentary welcome massage!
  • They organize their boat cruises free of charge!
  • Not one but TWO 24hr swimming pools

Sok San Beach Resort, Koh Rong Islands

It was an adventurous journey to this beach resort! Sok San Beach Resort came highly recommended by MAADS Asia, so we decided to head here too (because all their recommendations were on point, we could’t thank them enough!) We took a speed boat to the island (this takes around 45min- 1 hour and is the only way to get here) after which we had to go by road to the beach property (because of the bad weather, we were taken to another port from where we had to drive down to the beach) But one look at the cottage by the beach and I fell in love.

Here is what our island adventure looked like, right from sailing into bad weather to reach the cottage in the room, to hitting the beach when a storm was on the horizon, and even trekking to a waterfall in the jungle while it poured cats and dogs on the island.

Facilities

  • Right at the beach
  • They take care of boat transfers too (this comes at an added cost)
  • Organize activities and tours around the island
  • Happy hours at the bars (which means you have 2 drinks in 5 dollars!)
  • Super delicious food!

Please note that Sok San Beach Resort is not a part of MAADS Asia, but came highly recommended by them.
