A Wellness Getaway With NAAD Wellness

Heading off to North India in peak summer might not be everyone’s idea of a relaxing getaway, but you’ll be surprised to read what I have to say. Before I start, let me tell you how anything below 15deg stresses me out, and anything between 25-35deg is my comfort zone. North India of course likes to do things in extreme, but having spent most of my childhood in this region of the country (#JustArmyLifeThings) I welcomed the 40deg summer back into my life as I headed towards Sonipat, with open arms. As most of you saw on my Instagram, last month I traveled to Delhi NCR for a 4 day break at the wellness retreat NAAD Wellness. This experience turned out to be a box full of surprises, right from the mouth-watering vegetarian food preparations and Turkish stone baths to the hospitality and service. Read on to know more about…

Running through the by-lanes of Chandni Chowk

Snarled by traffic, crammed by shops selling silver jewelry, saris, blouses and mannequins dressed in lehengas, marking the entrance to stores filled with excited women shopping for a shaadi – Delhi’s most famous shopping street is characterized by drama, pandemonium and an old world charm quite lost in the otherwise buzzing metropolis. No visit to Delhi is complete without a visit to Chandni Chowk, a name that we’ve heard while growing up in India, thanks to Bollywood. And of course I decided to check out this epic place. Since we were staying in Dwarka, we decided to start off the day early, and thank God for that. Because you need a lot of time to take in the charm that Chandni Chowk has to offer. And more so because the traffic jams in the narrow lanes will have you covering a distance of 1km in 45minutes (we of course decided…

Summerhouse Cafe, Delhi

Nothing beats drinking in the open air – especially on a chill Autumn night, when a light breeze makes you reach for your sweater and fairy lights and low music set the mood for intimate conversations between lovers and tipsy debates between friends. It was on one such night that I went over to say hello to Ricky and Esther, the two people who are the lifeline of Summerhouse Café. As I walked in, I could get a distinct sense of luxury in the buzzing second floor, while the sprawling rooftop bar was like a breath of fresh air in the otherwise smaller pubs around the area. I immediately fell in love with the place, so much so that I decided to stay back for a drink. It’s my comfort zone- pretty lights, techno, whiskey, conversations; I’d regret it if I hadn’t stayed back :) So here’s one thing I’ve figured out -…

We Saw The Taj Mahal In 25 Minutes

“A teardrop on the cheek of eternity”, “The embodiment of all things pure”, “The sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes” are all phrases that describe the greatest symbol of love that the world has ever known-the Taj Mahal. Considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, lakhs of tourists come down to Agra to catch a once in a lifetime glimpse of the Taj Mahal. And we covered it in 25minutes. They say unplanned trips make for the best memories. What they don’t tell you is that “best memories” can be a best bad memory, or a best good memory. Either way, you’re stuck with this memory forever, and well, you learn to laugh along. A business trip to Delhi gave us a few hours in hand to do…well, nothing. And guess what yours truly, a mad(wo)man bitten by the travel bug decided…

If you’re healthy and you know it jump up high!

A little overwhelmed by the response the health article got. Good to see that people and brands are genuinely interested. Remember I tweeted something to Gaia Good Health recently? I got in touch with them after my sister and a couple of my friends told me how they were a part of it. For those of you who do not know what this is about- Gaia Good Health is a brand that provides nutritional supplements and promotes healthy living. Gaia Good Health conducted a Freedom Jump this Independence week. They went around Delhi and Pune, asking people to break free from stress, unhealthy lifestyles & negativity, and jump to an energetic, healthier and positive self. Why jump? Because jumping symbolizes energy and healthy living (true that!) All those who jumped got granola bars, health cookies and other goodies from Gaia Good Food. I recently received my University of Pennsylvania degree…
