I am sure everyone’s heard of Punjab Grill, and I am sure everyone is aware of the fine dining experience that comes along with the gourmet restaurant. Now here’s the good news- you don’t really have to wait for that special occasion to enjoy a sophisticated culinary experience at Punjab Grill; they are out with a new, fun menu, and I think most of you are going to like what they have to offer.
An outdoor seating, a chakhna menu for 100 bucks, a (limited) bar menu for 100 bucks and some insane desi cocktails. I’d say come for the cocktails if nothing else, it’s quite a fun deal. Here’s a look at the menu that’s been introduced –
We sampled a bit of everything, and here’s what we loved –
Masala Ande – the good old egg bhurji, complete with the desi ghee tadka.
Tandoori Pineapple with Shashlik – I called for a third round.
Nimboo Ka Achaar Caprioska – taste it to believe it. You can thank me later.
The Kotkapure Da Atta Chicken was presented in quite an interesting way with the outer atta (wheat) layer being cut open by scissors, and the steaming hot chicken being served right there on our plates. It’s a supremely healthy dish by the way – steamed and baked with the masalas over fire, this one has my vote. There is room for improvement though – the chicken could be a little softer, plus allowing it to be cooked for some more time will ensure the masala seeps in right till the end.
The new avataar does make it possible for people to enjoy this fine dining setting at a much lower cost, and I see a great potential for an increase in family get-togethers and corporate team outings at Punjab Grill. The food is quite pleasant, healthy even! and I’d leave the choice to return for a second visit completely up to you. As far as experiencing this new menu is concerned, I’d say you can safely give it a try.
