Dumbbells and Drama

Pool parties, beach vacations, water park weekends…*sigh* my favorite time of the year is here! To celebrate the fun vibe of the season I am off to Goa for a 10 day road trip next month. Which means I am extremely stressed about getting a bikini body.

Gyms get a little too claustrophobic in the summers, and it isn’t exactly the brightest idea to run out in the sweltering heat. Thanks to home-workouts, there is a way you can manage a hectic schedule and a workout regime while avoiding the summer sun. I prefer High Intensity Interval Training since it’s faster, more effective, increases metabolism (thanks to the food blogging I NEED a high metabolic rate) and can be done anywhere.

Here is something that I have designed for the next 5 weeks. They seem to be working pretty well for me. I’d suggest you work-out in the morning to kickstart your day, get the blood flowing, and to get your muscles pumped.

I’m leaving you with a few options. Complete ONE of them 3-5 days per week first thing in the morning. You may use one per week, or mix and match as you like.

There are a few things you must keep in mind during working out in the summer-

  • Keep yourself hydrated. Avoid alcoholic and caffeinated beverages.
  • Your body takes time to acclimatize to the heat. Ease your body into the summer heat extremely slowly. This should take around 2 weeks.
  • Wear appropriate clothing while working out. Make sure your clothes facilitate cooling.

So get ready to bring that itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny, yellow polka-dot bikini back into your life this summer!
