Massages are under-rated. After all that working out, your body NEEDS a massage, a fact that people tend to equate to a luxurious life only. 5 Ways To Eat Smart With Gaia Good Health

Well, I’ve been trying to eat healthy. While I do work out almost every day (30 minutes a day)I am keeping a strict check on what I consume. Being a total foodie I’ve found it extremely to control my cravings for carbs and sugar. Over the years I’ve learnt how to set aside 1 day a month for pizza, 1 cheat meal a week and I also time my snacks as per my workout (eg : sugar is digested till 2 hours after a workout, proteins are great for post-workout, etc etc) Plus you know how they say it’s 40% gym and 60% diet? Yeah, so that’s true. Avoid junk for a week and you’ll see the difference in your body. In this post I’m going to share a few examples of what I eat, and hopefully I’ll be able to inspire some of you to make healthy lifestyle changes.…

212 All Day Cafe & Bar – My Take On The Healthy Menu

Y’all know how I’ve been trying to eat healthy and seriously concentrate on getting some definition for my summer body (those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, why aren’t you following me o IG/Twitter/SC? ID- @dumbbellsndrama. Hitting that follow button now would be a great idea) It is difficult for a dessert and food lover like me to be logical about what I eat (I OD’ed on some ice cream yesterday, but that was well timed too cos I ended up loading after a workout, so muscle building :)) Anyhoo, I honestly don’t expect myself to start getting excited about chia seeds and kale, but I know I’ve come a long way since those pizza and whiskey loaded nights. I take time to decide what healthy things on the menu can be ordered, and even on cheat days I don’t go all out (wheat base pizza,…

Vh1 Supersonic,Pune

Over three straight days with temperatures flirting around 35 degrees,VH1 Supersonic gave their sweaty fans the chance to dance themselves clean. Vh1 Supersonic this year was blessed with beautiful summer days; it was 3 days of the sun shining brightly in a clear blue sky, 3 green lawns packed with festival goers, interactive exhibits, a brew garden for thirst quenchers and great music. Laxmi Lawns was one big carnival last weekend as the festival attenders danced, lounged around, ate and drank over 3 days. Merchandise stalls, LED see-saws, swings, jenga blocks and art installations completed this happy picture. One of the highlights of this festival was the payment system- no chaos over money, you could simply load your microchip with the desired amount & swipe it at the bar & food counters. This cashless payment system was executed flawlessly. Larger Than Life  The Gionee Stage was dedicated to drum &…

Oriental Fine Dining : Baan Tao, Hyatt Pune

Fine dining is not unique to Pune. In fact it’s easy to walk into a fine dining establishment at almost any locality now.  Be it grand hotels with intimidating décor or romantic spots hidden away from the buzzing city life, the opportunities to devour a gourmet dish are aplenty. One of the names that comes up while we think of fine dining is Baan Tao in Hyatt Pune.  Baan Tao, a fine dining restaurant serving oriental cuisine whips up some of the most delectable prawns in the city.  Inspired by the fresh  produce  of Japan, China & the Orient, you’ll love the authentic menu of traditional dimsums and sea food soups that this place has to offer. Baan Tao is set in the plush Hyatt Pune, located in one of the most luxurious localities in town. The restaurant sits on the second floor of the property and creates a modern, luxurious and…

House of Medici, Pune

One of the recent additions to the culinary circuit in Pune is House of Medici, a fine dining institution that celebrates good food, music, glamour, and all things associated with the lifestyle of the rich and the famous. It’s one of those places you can imagine the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor clinking their glasses of champagne in a glamorous celebration of their lives. An interesting thing to note here is that the bar at House of Medici is the tallest and longest bar in the country, beating the famous Escobar in Mumbai. The bar here is long enough to have a fashion show on it, and New Year’s Eve saw that a few weeks ago. So what is House of Medici, a name that has appeared out of the blue in the high flying circles of Pune? Many of you who’ve been regulars of the Pune night…

Kochi Muziris Biennale & Varkala: A perfect end to 2016

I tried to make the most of my two-week winter break in December, and ended the year with a vacation in Kerala. Essentially, my friend and I were visiting Kochi for the biennale, but after overcoming some rather poor planning and a constant state of indecision, we managed to get ourselves to Varkala – which is by far, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. We spent 5 nights in Fort Kochi, primarily to get the feel of the biennale – where we could take it all in at our own pace and not rush through. The Kochi Muziris Biennale is an international art festival held every other year in Fort Kochi, and this time, it’s on for 108 days (starting December 2016). There are about 8 main venues for the biennale, though several cafés and local shops around Fort Kochi have collaborated with the festival as well.…

Sunburn 2016 Ends On A High Note

As Sunburn 2016 got off to a rocky start, many decided to give day 2, 3 and 4 a miss. Quitting wasn’t for us, and we made our way to the Sunburn Hill on 29 Dec 2016, this time with zero expectations. We ditched the car for a bike, and that was just one of the many things that went right for us that day. Highlights as follows – We made it to Sunburn Hills in under 90minutes This would have taken us almost 3 hours to cover by car. But the off-roading on the two wheeler made things a lot easier, and before you know it, we had crossed the massive traffic jam on the highway in a few minutes. When in Pune, do as the Punekar does :) The organization saw a 200% improvement overnight The queues were shorter, the volunteers were much faster while checking IDs and giving…

Off To A Rocky Start…..Sunburn Day 1

It was with high hopes that we woke up on the morning of 28 Dec 2016, humming a tune as we got ready for one of the biggest music festivals we were about to witness. We made our beds, enjoyed a hearty breakfast, laid out a fresh set of clothes, and got ready for Sunburn 2016. Cut to 3:00pm when we finally embark upon what would be one of our most memorable BAD road-trips. 3:30pm : at Phoenix MarketCity 3:45pm :  traffucked a little ahead of Inorbit Mall. 4:00pm – given up hope of reaching before sunset. A packet of Uncle Chips is opened. 4:05pm – Yaar, daaru le aate. 4:30pm – <we’ve probably moved a total of 500mt> 5:00pm – we FINALLY get off the highway (a total of 5km was covered in a little over an hour) and into the narrow village lanes. We reached the venue by 6:00pm.…

Breakfast in Goa : Sri, Vagator

A unique setting on the quiet hill side of Vagator, Goa, Sri comes as a highly recommended breakfast spot by many. We headed over early morning on one of our quarterly breaks to Goa, and found ourselves in a cosy spot in this restaurant, the only customers this early in the morning (10:00am is early in Goa :/) “I want a garden like this” Sri at first will remind you of a large colonial bungalow that has been converted to a commercial space. The large kitchen area and courtyard definitely seem to suggest so. Plants of all varieties, both local and exotic, adorn the place. Cats make their way to quiet corners while dogs lounge around in the sun, or sit beside you and make for great breakfast company. This popular spot boasts of a big shaded courtyard covered in thick green foliage that acts as a great camouflage and makes…
