ChatRoom #12- Bombay Bellyrina

Once in a while, you come across people who not only fill your life with positive vibes(I mean you LITERALLY feel a positive, happy change in the energy around you just by seeing their name pop up on your timeline) but inspire you to be the best version of yourself. They don’t even do this intentionally at times, it’s just something about them that wants you to be happy, stress-free and super duper motivated. Chitra  Balachandran is one such awesomesauce human I’ve had the good fortune of meeting (on the otherwise dreadful internet) and she, along with a bunch of more awesomesauce people, is the reason I’m still sane when it comes to social media (read Twitter.) It all started off with #TwitterGetsFitter, a community that works towards getting people to be fit together. I simply connected because this is what I had been doing too! What was in it for us?…

ChatRoom #11 – Ashish Gurbani

We connected at “This is the moment when people quit, I am going to do the opposite and stay on this path” Plus his new found love for the gym has us talking for hours on end. It’s always a great experience to meet Ashish Gurbani, a name we’ve grown to associate with some of the best photography work in Pune. It doesn’t matter what you do or where you come from, Ashish will talk to you of future plans and concepts he’s thought of, and will leave you feeling empowered. It was during one such breakfast conversation when I realised I needed to get him on here (what should have been done last year is finally being penned down now) A steaming cup of hot mocha lies forgotten on the table at the newly opened Coffee Jar as Ashish Gurbani takes me through this knowledge sharing experience. Excerpts -…

What Is The Big Deal About A Sports Bra? by Miss Lingerista

It has got to be a sign from the universe when you’re thinking of asking one of your favorite Instagram accounts for a collaboration, and they get in touch with you at the exact same time you thought of the idea. Not going to say much except “Hey guys, you need to check out Miss Lingerista on Instagram because she is one of my favorite people to follow there” One look at her page and you will know why. Over to the boss woman- Just like you wouldn’t play soccer without shoes to protect your feet, you shouldn’t exercise without a proper sports bra to protect your breasts. Why is it so important to wear a sports bra? To decrease the number of hard-ons in the world So we don’t get smacked in the face when training To flatten our boobs while playing sports (so, they don’t get in the way)…

ChatRoom #10 – Avinash Kotekar

It’s 7:00AM on a working Wednesday. Avinash steps in to the lobby at Hyatt Regency Pune and calmly waits for the boy and me to arrive. It’s 7:30 by the time we find ourselves by the indoor pool. Avinash does a quick reiki while we change into our swim suits. 2 minutes after we’re out of our changing rooms we hear Avinash say “How do you feel about pushing him in the pool?” The boy gets a twinkle in his eye, I look at the water and pray to God that it isn’t too cold, and push him into the pool. “Done. Great shot” we hear Avinash say 10 seconds into our shoot. This is when we knew this shoot was going to be a baller one. Ladies and gentlemen, it brings me great pleasure to introduce to you Mr. Avinash Kotekar, the rockstar behind this shoot: (It was a…

5 Minutes To A Happy Life

** This article has been written by Dimple Dhalwani Depression is more common than what you think it is, it’s just  the intensity that makes the difference. Whether it’s been a temporary phase of depression or a long term disease that you’ve been dealing with, let’s admit it, we have all had our low moments. Not convinced? Losing a job, death of a loved one, death of a pet, break ups, all of them make us experience depression in some form. Social rejection, peer pressure, any form of abuse, or even unequal treatment of siblings in childhood can lead on to depression. One thing to note here is that while we realise we are suffering, we do not wan to do anything about it. In fact there are times when we don’t want to accept it either! If we do wish to accept it, we make it an internal struggle and tell ourselves that…

ChatRoom #9- Abhimanyu Singh Rathore

In a world full of fashionistas with easy access to trends and styles, Abhimanyu Singh Rathore truly believes that a lot of studying goes behind the art of fashion styling, and how style says so much about the personality of a person. Abhimanyu is here to give us a peak into the world of fashion, one click at a time. The proud owner of Ishtailista, a blog that brings together street style and Indian kitsch, Abhimanyu has a lot to say about fashion, blogging, and why he doesn’t want to known as a blogger. Excerpts: Tell us a little about yourself. I am a fashion photographer who loves capturing street styles. I shoot on the streets of India, and freelance with a lot of international publications where my work is featured. This is my 5th year at Jaipur Literature Festival, I’m here on an assignment for a bunch of clients :) What…

ChatRoom #8 – Dimple Dhalwani

Not many know my interest in spirituality and that I’ve slowly been taking an active interest in studying the healing sciences. I’ve met several healers, spoken with a bunch of psychics, also spoken to experts about mental health and the power of positive thinking, and several times been an audience to “science vs spirituality” debates. There’s a lot that remains to be learnt, and while I’m on this wonderful journey, I’m going to share my experiences with some lovely people I meet along the way. First up is Dimple Dhalwani, one of the supremely positive, fun people I’ve come across. We were scheduled for a meeting for 2 hours, and we ended 6 hours later, happily discussing the power of positive thinking over a chicken biryani loaded lunch. Excerpts – Who is Dimple Dhalwani? She is a lightworker, energy healer and a psychic reader. Having started her journey at the tender age of…

ChatRoom #7 – Ameya Kolambekar

You know how you haven’t met someone, but you’ve been following their work on the internet, and everything that they do inspires you a little to stalk their every move online a little more? At the expense of sounding creepy, I’d like to say I have a bunch of such “online friends” who I’ve never met, and who have also made it to my “People I must meet one day” list. Ameya Kolambekar is one such person. Online friends are great sometimes. Guys, meet Northstalgia , one of my favorite travel inspiration accounts- Who is Ameya Kolambekar?  You know that guy who loves traveling but is stuck in a 9-6? That’s me. I adore pets, football keeps my weekends busy and I find myself digging into history quite a bit. And, I never have a bad hair day. (The first thing that strikes me here- this man has a great sense…

ChatRoom #6 – Apeksha Khanchandani

The Punekar has slowly grown to be an integral part of the lives of thousands in the city, and Apeksha Khanchandani has been a driving force behind this. We all have fond memories of scrolling through articles talking about the best cheesecakes in the city (mmmmmmm PBC!), the most romantic restaurants in Pune (hello Level 12!), the best breakfast places in the city (hey Yezdan) and a lot more. From being just a weekly webzine to gaining popularity on social media too, Punekar has grown to be an fun place to read content about a fun city! What was it like, heading Punekar with a team of freelancers (interestingly, that’s how I first met this powerhouse of energy) ? How has the growth been so far? What made her believe that Punekar would be loved by one and all in the city? What are the challenges she has faced? I’m…

ChatRoom #5 – Asa Ferreira

It’s a lovely feeling to sit with Asa Ferreira while she passionately discusses her work over a cup of coffee. I met her 3 years ago when she joined my team, and look at her now, entrepreneur and all that jazz! I still remember our Maggi sessions post our work meetings where she’d excitedly listen to whatever information I managed to share with her. I see how far she’s come from when I met her first, and it still amazes me. All of 23, she’s successfully heading a digital agency in Pune that recently celebrated it’s first anniversary earlier this year, and the glow on her face when you point this out says everything there is to know about what she feels about being an entrepreneur. Excerpts from the tête-à-tête – What made you start out on your own? I guess it was the possibility for endless personal progress which…
