A Week With Neemrana Hotels In Fort Kochi

For a city this small, the diversity of Kochi is stunning. The bounty of treasures in this quaint town in Kerala will charm you; Kochi gives you an option to get up close and personal with history, culture and nature, and takes you on a culinary adventure like none other. Kochi is an easy place to visit, with polite inhabitants and a calm, healing energy that explains why tourists from all over the world are drawn to God’s Own Country. Fort Kochi remains to be the most popular part of this town, thanks to the quaint cafes, heritage hotels, spas by the beach, Chinese Fishing Nets, Synagogue and Jew Town, among others. We kicked off 2018 with a trip to this beautiful town, a trip that left me head over heels in love with Kochi, and a strong longing to get back soon (I’ve already made up my mind to…

From Skinny To Strong #TransformationTuesday

This #TransformationTuesday I thought I’d share a quick recap of my fitness journey over the last 4 years. It’s been a journey full of sweat, pain and tears. I’ve gone from “I need to be skinny” to “I need to be strong” and that I believe is the biggest transformation in my life. I have made a ton of mistakes (more on this blog post) and I have learnt life lessons from them. I have met some of the best, most humble people on this journey. I once treated food and exercise as punishement. Today, I understand the nourishment value of food, exercise, and recovery. Injury taught me patience. I learnt the importance of good sleep and rest. I learnt to love my body, but it took me quite a few years to get here. Sharing with you some of the major points in my fitness journey (tthose of you who…

Do Not Let Them Make You Feel Guilty For Taking Out Time For Yourself

All those who’ve been with me on Instagram over the last 2 months know that I plan to focus on mental as well as physical fitness, starting this year. As promised, here I am with my two bits on mental health. I have so much to share with you, but I am not sure where to start from. Learning how to disconnect and tune into some ME-TIME is what I think works for starters, I plan to document my experience with mediation, yoga, social media and trolls, and a lot more later. Do feel free to write in if you want me to address certain topics, I’d be glad to do that. Before I start, I’d like to give some context to this article. I’ve been focusing a lot on disconnecting from the internet. Being a blogger and a digital content writer, this gets difficult. We live in  a world…

Ignoring The Warning Signs- How I allowed stress to take over my life

I’ve always been proud of my multi-tasking skills, and considered my ability to prioritize work as one of my strongest skills. While I enjoyed the confidence and the recognition my skills got me, I forgot to account for the fact that too much of something is harmful in the long run. Allow me to share with you a  personal story about how I let stress take over me. But it isn’t really that simple. To help you understand context, I need to rant a lot more than usual. Bear with me. I could have finished this off with a “Reasons why rest is important” but a story of a personal failure always leaves a better impact (so my Google Analytics tells me about my posts in 2017) Freelancing left me insecure.  Freelancing is tough for a bunch of reasons, all of which depend on one personality trait- discipline. Thankfully I…

Fitness Mistakes I Made

I have been working out since 2013. It’s been 4 wonderful years of sweat, soreness, pain and growth. There has been a massive transformation in every aspect of my life – I am not only physically fitter, but I feel stronger mentally, physically as well as emotionally. Being on this fitness journey has made me learn patience, determination, and helped me become happier, more forgiving, and grateful for what I have. It has also helped me with my anxiety. I am also in love, like all the time! I have learnt to appreciate so much about life, and I’ve realised how we live our lives in jealousy, insecurity, fighting over petty issues, hanging on to things that happened in the past. I don’t know the science behind it, but I can assure you that fitness helps you become the bigger person, ALWAYS. That’s why the fitness community is such a…

Planet Hollywood Goa- A Getaway For Two

It’s only been a month since we took this vacation, but it feels like a different lifetime. I find myself going back to these blue waters every now and then, thinking about those days spent at the pool, Jacuzzi and beach. The nostalgia hits hard, and each time it does, I am *this* close to making a weekend plan to Planet Hollywood Goa once again. Something about the property and experience left me feeling happy and free. This was one hell of  a therapeutic vacation, and I want you to experience it once in your lifetime at least. You’ll thank me later. Goa has been a favorite vacation spot since years, but with the increase in tourists pouring in at almost any given time of the year, our trips to Goa have reduced quite a bit. From once every 2 months, we’ve come down to maybe twice a year. Goa…

#Diet- Pre & Post Workouts with Storia Foods

All those who follow me on Instagram know that I recently tried coconut water and some shakes from Storia Foods. Those of you who tuned in late, I shall tell you all about it in this blog post. Before I start, let me reiterate my views on diets, fitness and overall well-being. I am no one to give you nutrition gyaan since I do not know a lot about this field myself. What I experiment with on a personal level is after effective consultation with my folks (who are doctors) and a few friends who’re studying nutrition. I train 6 times a week, and do not take any supplements for my gains. I concentrate on eating home cooked meals, keeping a close check on pre workout and post workout meals. Storia Foods sent me a bunch of products to try out, and this is what I feel about them (I…

Boulder Shoulder!

I am back with another workout post (#MondayMotivation FTW!) This one is something I tried out at home last week because I was running behind schedule as far as my writing was concerned, and I had not stepped foot inside the gym all week. This workout is a quick, basic and super duper easy HIIT routine that I combined along with some basic shoulder moves. Take a look at it, try it out on a day you’re running short of time or don’t want to leave the comfort of your home. Print it out if you want to because you totally can :) Note- I did this after a 3km brisk walk. Add in some jumping jacks and high knees to warm up before you start your HIIT. Also, do not forget to stretch!  Monday Motivation has been served. Have a fabulous week :)

I Am That Pyscho Who Says ‘Let’s Train Legs Twice A Week’

Those of you who have been with me on my fitness journey have seen the transformation in my body structure. From being a runner to an HIIT lover, I have always been a tiny-framed, almost skinny girl. I have always had strong legs, but they were never toned (you could call them thin for lack of a better description) I never really had a great derrière either. It’s November of 2017 and I have a body that does not sound anything like in the above description. Along with a tone, I have muscle definition in my arms. A cobra back seems like a possibility now when I see the muscles flexed on my back. I have quads and calves, the size of my thighs has increased (something that I had aimed at doing) Under a thin layer of stomach fat I have a permanent 4 pack, and the last 2…

Please Don’t Be A Gym Bully- A Request To Fellow Fitness Enthusiasts

“You must be into cardio” they ask me as I shake hands with my new gym acquaintances. “No, I’m weight training” I say, and am met with a somber nod and an occasional hmm. I’ve noticed those side glances they exchanged too. The conversation has abruptly ended, and I make my way towards the weight rack, conscious that every step I take is being intensely scrutinized. All that beast mode enthusiasm has disappeared too, and I suddenly find myself faced with a simple question- should I be doing this at all? Sounds super familiar, doesn’t it? Congratulations, you’ve been noticed by the gym bullies and you’re officially a part of the gym world. This feeling was quite common a few months ago, and of course I learnt to deal with it, but it’s the attitude of those gym-goers that irks me till date. Fitness is a positive community of people,…
