Empathy in the Fitness Space

Over the years there have been several instances where friends and family have reached out to me because they were worried about the health of their loved ones, and were super unsure about how to get their point across without letting worry consume their relationship. Most of us have gone through that, isn’t it? Health of those close to us is something that we often worry about, but it comes with a lot of pressure. It is a sensitive topic, and can be an instant confidence killer if not handled in the right way. Most of us tend to react aggressively because of the fear that the thought of bad health brings along. “Please go to the gym you are becoming fat”  “oh my god you have gained so much weight ” “you will most definitely get diabetes”  “oh my God what happened to you”…. While these are logical fears…

Patience Is Everything- A Personal Story

They say that dreams can come true if you really believe in them. Sounds like a vague piece of advice that the internet is throwing at you, doesn’t it? I have this thought almost daily. Sometimes it is strong enough to make me feel “okay, life might not work out the way I want it to and I need to be okay with that.” Is this how rejection feels like? Maybe. Sometimes giving up is the easier way out, life is unfair that way. But what about those times when you achieve something that you had only dreamt of? Isn’t that a wild dream coming true? Doesn’t it mean that you are holding the dream close to your heart (subconsciously) and working towards it (again, subconsciously) , and guess what?  The universe rewards patient hard workers. Now *this* might seem like random advice on the internet, but in hindsight when…

When We Were Almost Deported Thanks To Air Asia & KLN Immigration

Travel isn’t always about rainbows and butterflies, something that I keep talking about (especially when I am traveling) It isn’t always about fancy places, foods and outfits, there is a lot of research, sweat and sometimes even tears that go into curating some of the most memorable travel moments. Even when it comes to the “ugly” moments, moments that make you go “never doing this again” travel is a great teacher. Failure, mishaps, goof ups, all of them contribute to the learning process, and that is why I will keep traveling till I can. All of you know about the time in Rome when I realised the boy was probably the best thing to have happened to me….that trip taught me so much about LOVE. Our recent getaway to Cambodia also ended up being an eventful one thanks to a bunch of travel fails. I obviously have to share this…

Places To Visit In Cambodia

Thank you (once again) for the lovely response on my articles on Cambodia. Fortunately, I am not done yet. Really hoping to inspire you to see this beautiful country for yourself. For details on itineraries and cost, check this out.  All of you who are wondering what to do in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Koh Rong, here’s a guide based on my experiences. https://www.instagram.com/p/BmcxV3kBQdp/?taken-by=dumbbellsndrama https://www.instagram.com/p/BlxlQUTgrQL/?taken-by=yogeshdiddee SIEM REAP When in Siem Reap, a visit to Angkor Wat is a must (duh) This is probably the only well known part of Cambodia, so you will find it filled with tourists. But what no one will tell you is how huge the place is, and how you cannot possibly finish the full tour…

How To Plan A Trip To Cambodia

I hope you had a great time seeing what MAADS Asia had to offer us in terms of stay on our trip to Cambodia. I am so thrilled to know that so many of you have shown interest in visiting this country.  I understand it isn’t a place that is well explored by many, and I will do my best to answer all your questions and help you plan a trip to Cambodia (before it is too late- I keep saying this because the place as we know it will change in the next 2-5 years, I can write it in my blood. What looks like South Goa in 2005 now will look like Marine Drive by 2022. The construction has already begun! It’s heartbreaking. Go, go before it is too late!) https://www.instagram.com/p/BmVEt49hqH6/?taken-by=dumbbellsndrama Coming back to the point- how does one get from India to Cambodia? Allow me to explain.…

A Wellness Getaway With NAAD Wellness

Heading off to North India in peak summer might not be everyone’s idea of a relaxing getaway, but you’ll be surprised to read what I have to say. Before I start, let me tell you how anything below 15deg stresses me out, and anything between 25-35deg is my comfort zone. North India of course likes to do things in extreme, but having spent most of my childhood in this region of the country (#JustArmyLifeThings) I welcomed the 40deg summer back into my life as I headed towards Sonipat, with open arms. As most of you saw on my Instagram, last month I traveled to Delhi NCR for a 4 day break at the wellness retreat NAAD Wellness. This experience turned out to be a box full of surprises, right from the mouth-watering vegetarian food preparations and Turkish stone baths to the hospitality and service. Read on to know more about…

24 Hours With Four Points by Sheraton Whitefield, Bengaluru

Where does one place “business travel” Is it work, is it a vacation, or is it a bit of both?  The answer affects the way a hotel designs the experience for the guests, and it’s good to see how this has evolved from being “just another work trip” for an employee to an entire workation experience. Seeing this change in lifestyle and habits, hotel properties have started curating special experiences for their travelers, so much so that brands now focus on a hotel property exclusively for business travelers only. In this context, today we talk about Four Points by Sheraton Whitefield, Bengaluru, which has turned out to be a hot favorite among business travelers in the city. Those who follow me on Instagram already know that I spent a fabulous 24 hours at Four Points by Sheraton Whitefield, Bengaluru. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bj3-2CoH0a4/?taken-by=dumbbellsndrama For those who missed it, here’s what 24 hours…

Have You Been To Pune’s Only Open Air Spa?

We all deserve a break that leaves us feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the world. I usually plan these breaks around the weekend, especially Sunday, when I enjoy a long gym session and end it with a good sports massage or spa therapy. Those who know me well know my love for massages and retreats, and more often than not it is the only solution to half of the problems around me (yes, I cannot recommend a massage enough!)  One of my favorite things to do is wake up early on a Sunday (let’s say, 8:00am) read a book, head to the gym by 11:00 am, eat a nice lunch at 2:00 pm and then head to Hyatt Pune at 4:30pm for a swim and spa. Why Hyatt Pune? Because I’d be stupid to say no to an open air spa on the rooftop, a quiet, secluded, lush…

Everyone Has Abs, But Not Everyone Has A Strong Core

Once upon a time, I was obsessed with the number “50” on the weighing scale. I would run, sometimes starve, and run some more (run 5km extra if I ate junk) all to stay strong at 50kgs. I lost around 10kgs in 6 months, and was super happy with the transformation because OMG I HAVE ABS! This is also when the #bcpaseena selfies started, and next thing you know, I was obsessed with “abs” My boyfriend introduced me to the gym in April 2017, and it’s the best thing he could have ever done. I remember struggling to bench press a total of 5kgs, always wondering “why is it that I can’t find the strength to do this?” I was scared to eat carbs, scared to fuel my body because food meant “weight” 2 months, and I continued struggling. We then headed to Europe for 2 weeks where I had…
